Letter D

Hello everyone 🙂

Let’s take a look at the next letter.

Drum roll please…

Determined

I’d say that Jesus was certainly the most determined person in the bible. He didn’t let Satan, the Pharisees, anybody in fact, get to him with negative comments. He didn’t do it alone though. He asked God to help him and placed on the armour of God, Ephesians 6:14, which helped him realize that those fiery darts where from the Devil himself and was NOT about to have him win.

A perfect example of him was when he rebuked the demons out of the boy in Matthew 17:18 after the boy’s father gave him discouraging news that the disciples couldn’t get the demon out of the boy. What did he do? He REBUKED the father and the demon. They angered him so he gave them a piece of his mind.

Another determined person was Ruth. Her mother-in-law Naomi kept telling Orpah and Ruth to be with their parents fearing that they would be looked down upon. Eventually, Orpah gave in. But Ruth stood her ground because she saw there was something that Naomi had that she needed: God’s love.

In Ruth1:16-18, she pours out her soul and determination to Naomi by saying” Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people are my people and your God will be my God. Wherever you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord punish me severely if I allow anything but death to separate us!”

Some speech, huh? Naomi couldn’t say no to such a statement and Ruth brought Naomi joy by looking after her, finding a husband and bearing the grandfather of King David!

What have you done to be determined and what helps you gain that confidence?

Blessings
