Today, we are going to be talking about how we can be an influence to others as young people.
The main way we can do that is by our actions, as the famous verse 1 Timothy 4:12 tells us.
But how can we able to act like that?
Well, if you think about it, we mostly act on what we think!
Now the question that should be asked is what should we think about?
I think Philippians 4:8 might have the answer:
Yeah, from looking at that verse, we instantly have a feeling that our thoughts aren’t always focused on those things. SO how can they be fixed on them?
- By reading your Bible. God’s Word is the key.
- Evaluating what you watch, read, and listen to as well as your speech. Are they really honourable? Are they admirable? If they aren’t, then you might have to send those things packing.
Trust me, when you start doing that, your actions and attitude will change, and people are going to eventually notice.
Here is an example:
Say I don’t read and meditate much on the Bible, and I watch TV shows where siblings fight with each other.
Sooner or later, I’m going to treat my younger brother the same way as I’ve seen on TV.
But if I read the Bible about relationships and realised that what I was doing was wrong, I would stop watching those shows and find good shows to watch, e.g. Veggie Tales.
I would keep reading my Bible and putting what I’ve read to practise and pretty soon, my attitude towards my brother will change positively.
Do you see how it doesn’t have to be huge? Big or small, if we do what God says, He will be pleased with us.
How about you?
Are there any other ways that we can be influential as young people?
