Amos 3:3- Can two people walk together without agreeing on the direction?”
This is what I’ve been thinking about this month.
You see, there are some “friends” that I wonder how they call themselves that when they fight over EVERYTHING, and don’t have the same values whatsoever.
I know people say opposites attract, but actually, there are some things that even opposites have to be compatible on.
Some things are minor, like arrangement of a room or doing a project.
But some things, especially when we grow up, can become incredibly major- marriage, budgets, family, religion.
I think what the verse is saying is that yes, we can have disagreements now an then, but we have to agree on important things, or tension will grow.
So what should we do as young people then?
Well, decide on your values, the major and the minor. Evaluate your friendships. Look around you and see if there at people who agree with you on your majors, and hang around with them. You may not always get along, but remember, we’re humans.
And what about the people who don’t have the same major values? Respect them, and be good acquaintances. You never know, a friendship may come out of that.
What do you think?
How do you keep good friendships?
Do you evaluate your friendships from time to time?
