Leaders Devotion

Leaders

There are so many leaders, people of influence, and role models in our lives that it can be a challenge to remember to follow closely with those who are like minded in the faith.  Surrounding ourselves with people who encourage and inspire us is significant in life.

What does the Bible say?

Until I started bible journaling, I can’t say I ever read the bible much. Not that I didn't WANT to, but I’ve talked about it before, so I won’t go into the why’s now…but I am sure you’ve all been there. Once I started bible journaling and got more comfortable with the bible, I started doing bible studies. But again, if I’m honest…it’s rare that I’d ever actually complete one. I’d usually get halfway through and get distracted and move on to something else. I think it’s because while bible studi

Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.

Hebrews 13:7

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

2 Timothy 2:15

“You’ve observed how godless rulers throw their weight around,” [Jesus] said, “and when people get a little power how quickly it goes to their heads. It’s not going to be that way with you. Whoever wants to be great must become a servant. Whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave. That is what the Son of Man has done: He came to serve, not to be served—and then to give away his life in exchange for many who are held hostage.”

Mark 10:42-45

Questions

(I encourage you to write your answers down.)

  • Do you have godly role models in your life? People who inspire you and encourage you to please God?
  • What makes an excellent leader according to 2 Timothy 2:15 and Mark 10:42-45?

Challange

  • I’m challenging you to find Christ-like role models. It’s also important to be reminded that nobody’s perfect. We all make mistakes, but trying to glorify God in all we do is a great trait.

Ideas:

Here are some of my heroes to help you in your search for leaders, and remember none of them are perfect:
Morgan Harper Nichols
Audrey Hepburn
Jamie Grace
Nancy Rue

  • I’m challenging you to be a great example, to inspire others as your heroes encourage you. Keep in mind 1 Timothy 4:8, “Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.”

Ideas:

How can you be a great role model for others? Follow Philippians 4:8:
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable—if there is any virtue and if there is anything worthy of praise—dwell on these things.”

Do It

By following up on these challenges, we can live godly lives. Romans 12:2 says,”Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

From what I took from the Bible passages, first off as a leader, you have to be grounded in God’s Word. Then you have to live it out and believe it, like Jesus did and support others around you.
