The Cure

The Cure

Imagine that you live in a small town or village that has been infected by a terrible sickness. People are dropping left and right from the awful disease. Then it happens. You succumb to the dreadful illness. A sad spirit comes over you. You might not live through the night. It gets darker, and you drift into a fitful sleep.
After you awake from one of the offensive spells of the sickness, you see that a neighbor came by and left a drink for you. You pick the cup up and sip. Right away you feel better! The disease is gone, and you are eternally grateful to your friend.
But the story doesn’t end there. What if you know where you can get more of the drink, but you don’t share the good news with the village? Crazy right? You have the chance to help save all these hurting people, but you ignore their pain and suffering.
Although this isn’t a real story, it is relatable to many Christians. In the midst of our troubles, Jesus, our Friend, comes and rescues us. He gives us The Good News, the Bible, full of life. Many of us keep the cure to ourselves. We know about eternal life, but don’t share with others the blessing of knowing heaven will be awesome. Scroll down to see what the Bible says about this.

What does the Bible say?

Now I’m returning to you.
I’m saying these things in the world’s hearing
So my people can experience
My joy completed in them.
I gave them your word;
The godless world hated them because of it,
Because they didn’t join the world’s ways,
Just as I didn’t join the world’s ways.
I’m not asking that you take them out of the world
But that you guard them from the Evil One.
They are no more defined by the world
Than I am defined by the world.
Make them holy—consecrated—with the truth;
Your word is consecrating truth.
In the same way that you gave me a mission in the world,
I give them a mission in the world.
I’m consecrating myself for their sakes
So they’ll be truth-consecrated in their mission.

John 17:13-19

Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
    on earth as it is in heaven.

Matthew 6:10
